rb25 in a 240z

posting it here because no one would answer in the z forums... it's pretty dead over there

just seen a 240z with an rb26
http://www.pasmag.com/news/get.asp?...onkey=features#

wayy too much work... but would a rb25 go in easier? i have been contemplating the rb25 go into a 240sx for my next car but i really really like the old z's, they look better and they weigh a good 400 lbs lighter.

anyone know anything about this swap, and know of anyone who would be able to perform the swap for a (somewhat) resonable price? it would cost $6500 from http://www.xatracing.com/xatracingp...ol1=nissan.html to make it happen in a 240sx.

if this can't happen for a good $$, what's the best way to get a good 325hp out of the 2300 lb z?

later guys and ty for the help,
mark

If you are going to get the rb25 into a 240sx I can reasonably beat the 6500 quoted from that shop. Send me a private message or email me at [email protected] and spill the details.

you're prolly right... what about an sr20 or rb20?

i just really want to know... if someone can fit an sr in a 240z i could upgrade ecu, injectors, lsd (available for a z?) and turbo and be running just about a flat 12.0 for about $5000 (plus $2000 for the car).

there any turbo kits for the old z? im sure there are... i want to push about 300hp. stock z has 150hp.

actually forget it. i want a stickshift and the 240z is a four-speed.

researched and the stickshift's are actually slower than the autos (more spinning of wheels... see i told you autos are faster in some cars )

im just going with the r26 in a 240sx... im going to try to get it installed locally by my friends at nissan, maybe i could work out a deal with them. if not i'll give my project to you gtr

RB25 and RB26 won't fit without lots of custom work. SR20 can fit pretty easily but is still quite a bit of work...

or you could easily but a ls-1 into the 240Z and LE28ET would be cool to with the cranked up boost and an intercooler

just to let you know, the 4 speed is a manual transmission, back inthe 70's they even had 3 speed manuals, and ifyou did do a swap, the transmission in the car probably wouldn't be used with the new engine

yea, they are 4spd's but i have seen a z with an sr20. they are actually somewhat common engine swaps besides the chevy v8's.

i'll prolly wait a few months, maybe during or after winter will order a rb25 240. i'll let you know gtr.... really you should start just making them and selling them on ebay! they would go like hotcakes.
