coolant Q

a week ago i bought some Prestone coolant, but its that new GM orange type. i saw something on tv that said you shouldn't replace the green coolant in a car with the new stuff even if the system was flushed out. but a guy at NAPA said it'd be ok if it was flushed. wtf. i haven't put in the orange yet, and i won't until i am positive that it won't f*ck up my car.

WHat do you guys think, will it be ok to put it in after flushing the system or not?

It is best to stick with the coolant your car came with. If it was green put green back in. Orange put orange back in.

If you mix the green with the orange no harm will happen. The only difference is the flush interval. green is every 2 years or 24K miles and the orange is 150K or 5 years. If the 2 are mixed then it becomes 2 years 24K miles.

I know there are lots of people out there that trash the dexcool coolant, but in the end it is your job to decide which one is better for you. And I am not going state the good and the bad on dexcool, that would be a subject in a different forum.
