AF is very popular, and many people (guests and members) like to look at AF. We are going to have to put up with this. As long as AF remains popular and no way is found around it then...... Just keep refreshing and hoping As i said before AF is popular and we should appreciate that so many people from around the world come here so we can compare our works and get the chance to speak to different people. I just have one message to the AF tech guys: COME ON SORT OUT THE SERVER!

You don't understand, we've put up with that message alot!

It's time like these we need to get a life and stop being so dependant on Automotive Forums. There are a few other model forums out there you know, I've solved my problems with AFs bad server by looking on other forums. I know it is annoying when you need/want to come on AF and it never works, just the same old infamous message

I'm sure a big reason for the server being busy is not necessarily the number of requests it is processing, but more likely the number of bandwidth it is using. And a huge reason for bandwidth usage is pictures (consider that even a small image barely worth looking at is at least 20 KB). So if you want to avoid slowdowns, it would be a good idea to reduce the number of images the system has to load for you. So what can you do? A) disable signatures B) reduce the KB size of your signature... easiest way to go about this is delete the images... or thumbnail the image you want in your sig, and set it up as a link to the big image. ie... if the big image is at http://www.aut.../big.jpg make a thumbnail and upload it as well. Then type this in your signature with [ brackets instead of { brackets... {url=http://www.aut.../big.jpg}{img}http://www.aut.../thumbnail.jpg{/img}{/url} ... obviously those links would be expanded to where your pictures actually are. This will also clean up the page so it isn't so cluttered.

we went thru this on maxima.org, people complained so we got rid of sigs and no attachments. The site wasnt this big, but it helped until we go a new server. Plus donations to purchase the server, worth the money but some people just like to complain about free stuff i guess.
