Does anyone else think it's totally underoptioned for the price? Also, way underpowered. However, it has a beefy 4x4 system, and that great locking rear differential. Definately the most capable sport utility offroad. I've read in several magazines that the 4Runner just shines off road over any other sport uty. However, the new MDX, Pathfinder/QX4 are much better buys. Trying to sell my mom's 98 desert dune 4x4 limited with 32K miles on it. Like new, but she just complains that it doesn't have any nice options for a car that cost $38K.

I kinda agree with what you're saying, but then again you are getting a nice SUV, one that still has some demand for it, and also a Toyota, which mean reliability and durability, and an SUV not known for recalls. I agree somewhat that it is maybe a tad bit, and i stress tad bit underoptioned, but i believe the extra money goes for the name. My mom has a 2000 4runner limited, however not with the 4x4 package. I love driving it and think it was worth the money, it could use something like a navigation system though :P
