96' Grand Am FloorBoard Leak HELP!!!!

I just got my grand am for my 16th birthday she runs great the only problem that i have is that she leaks real bad into the floorboard when ever it rains. Me and my Stepdad found a box under the windshield wipers that has a flap that opens and closes with the a/c. that seems to be where the leak is coming from. If you have any ideas of what the box is or how to fix it please let me know. Thanks Alot

I also have a 1996 Grand Am SE and it has the same problem. Whenever it rains the floor (especially the drivers side) gets very wet. Does anyone know what the problem is???

Thanks!!

Cool Flooding Fix

I had the same proble what you have to do is on the outside where the wipers are there is that plastic shourd under the wipers. If you use silicone along the intire lenth of the plastic shourd it will take care of the problem. The dealer told me that the because the shroud does not have enough screws to keep the pressure down on the wind sheld to keep the water out and that is what they did to fix it no more water...

I have a 93 grand am and had a leak, on the right side, the leak was on the fire wall (front wall) right beneath the heater blower motor around the plate where the steering column (cylinder) is mounted. It was rusted through. I fixed it with joint and seam sealer, I used black.

p.s. have you fixed your problem yet?

Cool The Fixx

I had the same .

I took off the wipers,
the trim piece...
Then
Got some aluminum flashing (like for the roof)
Made a deflector, so, water goes over the vents.

And
No more problem !
