240z

What's the most I should pay for a 240Z? The one I'm looking at is for sale by owner its not in mint condition but its not to bad ether. I don’t have a lot of info yet but im planning on going to look at it in a day or so. Its not far from my house I saw it when I was coming home from golfing but I couldn’t stop at the time. It looks like it runs so that would be nice although I will probably swap the engine. So I know you dont have a lot to go on but just a ball park figure. I just want to have some idea of what I should pay. Thanxs ahead of time

$1500 - $3000. Only a 240 that is in excellent condition should go any higher. Also check it up and down for rust.

Racer D12:

Need more info. likely not worth more than 3,000.

Owned 10+ z's over the years, 240's 60's 80's, and the thing is that there are all sorts of cars out there, and everybody has their own style of 'restoring.' A totally mint (factory new) 70 240 can get 20g's+ in california. A bone 280 with a blowed out carbs, and home-tuned engine, with rust, cracked dash and sunroof gets 500-1000.

I bought my current 3/70 240 (5yrs ago) with nice body, decent interior, decent non-original motor for 2,400, then slowly put $2,000 into it to make it nice. includ. a 280 5spd tranny and rear end, z-therapy SU carbs, 240 heads and bored out 280 block, brakes, tokicos, re-upolst. seats, new gas tank and the like. not original buts looks and runs nice.

My brother, one the other hand, bought a 71 240 with very nice body, weak-ish original motor for cheap, and restored it from the bottom up as original as possible. He did it himself and spent around 5,000 and 8 months of weekends. You'll pay somebody 7,000 to do it for you. +paint.

hope this helped a little. good luck.
