I just did the same to mine. What you'll have to do is take your blazer to the dealer and have them program the BCM to accept the keyless entry. It should only cost between $30 and $60. I had to do some looking around but finally found a dealer who knew how to do it and charged the right price.

Re: option codes
GMMerlin
YIKES! A man that knows option codes! What timing. I just picked up a '02 S-Blazer Extreme yesterday and was wondering about the option. The dealer listed many on the window but I was wondering if there were any not listed. I popped open the glovebox to get the manual out and slapped myself in the forehead when I saw the option code list. Tried finding a reference to de-code on the internet but no-joy. Would you be willing to decode for me? I pulled many of them off your previous list so I'll only list the others that are still unknown. you could just go with an aftermarket keyless and remote start unit. they go for a little over $200 at best buy. and they have a lifetime warrenty on there work.

as for the price, which can vary by location, it is $199 for the unit which includes basic labor. the only extra charges would be, $50 for the 555L which you need to bypass the GM passlock system, $25 for the install of the 555L, and if you want to add hatch pop it is around $25. thats it. oh yeah and p.s. we make way more than $7/ Hr i am making more than double that

I use to run the install bay for one of those chain stores and the going rate for most of the installers were around $7/hr. They could get spiffs if they did so many or were able to get upgrades. I just have a flat rate per install. The only time I charge extra for anything is when I have to use a 555g or something. The reason being is that I maninly work on brand new cars like H2, Cadillacs, Ram Hemi's ect..I don't charge for a 555l. They only cost $10 from DEI. I pay everyone on comissions. The average installer gets about $45 per hour as long as they can get a 462t done in about 2- 2.5 hours. Plus, they are required to repair the vehicles they work on. It keeps everyone ligit. So, with paying installers this kind of money, I expect only the best

So, do we have any idea what the dealer has to do and if there is any way to do it on our own? John |
