is it my distributor or sumthing????

ok i just finished the swap went to start it and it just cranks.....then checked to see if there was a spark and there wasnt.......then i feel the distributor and it was like burning hot to the touch of your finger but only on the bottom of it the top was kinda hot.....so im thinking it a bad distributor???? i dont kno what else it could be i think im going to by a new one tomorrow and if it doesnt work then im going to return it

anyone have any idea????..............thanks

did u remember to connect the ground wires on the harness to the block? check to see if there is spark, n fuel when u turn the key do u hear the pump turn on?

i am almost positive that i connected to ground to the block and im sure that the pumps going on cause i can smell gas just alil but its not leaking i cant go and check now...im at school but ill look right when i get home i think its the distributor because it got like really hot just from cranking and i didnt even crank it that much.......im nto sure i think im goign to buy a new one and if it doesnt work just return it......

the dist getting that hot could be a ground problem. because one time a friend of mines truck the fuel pump always got really hot, turned out it was loose ground

i kno that all the ground wires are hooked up so its not that and i just changed the plug wires and its not that i think im goign to try a new distributor......what would the number be for it or what car????
