why california?

Are ALL skylines in the US imported through cali? if so, why? and to avoid the "if its not legal in cali, u cant drive it or register it"(i read that somewhere about that michigan guy's crooked out thought.).. why not just ship it to mexico and smuggle it thru to texas and so-on? i mean, they do that with drugs dont they?

wonder if this would work.

The reason California is always mentioned is because California has the strictest emissions laws in the U.S. Therefore, if a car can be emissions-certified in California, it will be 50-state legal.

The other restrictions on crash testing and emissions are governed by the DOT and EPA, so their restirctions already apply to all 50 states. (Though, as explained, pass CA and you can pass EPA...)

(right? )

Is this true? Oh my word, that's nothing! The LAUSD's (Los Angeles Unified School District) school busses put out so much smoke! And it's head high... so when you walk home, and a bus accelerates, it gets right in your face. As if someone with a huge cigar faced you noses touching, and blowed out a huge puff.

This must mean it's not the exust that they modify? I don't think there is anything that lets off more than the busses in LAUSD. What do they modify? And how come so costly?

I mean, if it is that bad, then why get one? I here those Supras can get up to 100 HP in minutes. Or my ricer fan boy tells me (you can argue with him for hours. All he says is, "Nope. The Supra is a better car.").

Oh, and does anyone know the Roadholding and Weight Distribution on the R34? Er... the one from 2 Fast 2 Furious? Always wanted to know.

And lastly, is the new Skyline really the Infiniti G35 SEDAN but with cooler rear-veiw mirrors? Why not the Coupe? The Coupe is the single most pretty car on the market today (as far as new cars), and I could see someone ricing it out from Beuty to plain ugly.

there are different applications of pollution regulation for different types of vehicle and engine type.

keep in mind that ford and other companies have to produce ULEV vehicles to compensate for heavier polluters, like the big trucks, etc.

also, cali is mentioned quite often b/c you don't often see a skyline shipped via boat to the east coast unless it's from europe.

japan to cali. straight shot

First off, school buses are diesels. Of course there will be a lot of smoke. The gov't makes allowances for that because of the fuel efficiency, among other things.

Yes, the new Skyline sedan is the G35 sedan. The Skyline coupe is the G35 coupe. Clear? But of course, you proabably meant the GT-R, which isn't even out yet.

Yeah, I firgured that out shortly after. I googled Skyline, and only got the sedan. But then I saw a pic of the coupe on some site or another. Now google has a pic.

Is there any concept pics of the new GTR?

(right? )
The EPA's driving cycle test is much more difficult to pass than CARB. CARB just requires approval and documentation for every emissions-related part on the car.....aka "Pain in ass".

Ok if you want pics of the new Skyline (Coupe and Sedan). Then your best bet is to go to the Japanese Nissan website, Nissan.co.jp I know it's in Japanese, but I'm pretty sure there's a button to put it all in English.
