Unhappy Fooly Cooly on CartoonNetwork

What the Fuck is this??

This is the most bizarre anime I have ever seen!! What the hell is this anyway?? I can't even figure out if there is a story line or not. Something about a girl android and a kid that sprouts monsters from his head?? And what is up with the bizarro anime styles in this?? Ive seen every style of animation I can think of in this and thats just in one show!! OMG it even mimics South Park.
Someone PLEASE explain this....

Scott

Very cartoonish - borders on disney-like humour - yet is far more bizarre.

Who cares if it makes sense?, at least it makes me have hope that I may be a good writer after all.

Welcome to the world of Gainax. If this is bizarre to you, then Evangelion will be hard to understand, but I would assume you've already seen NGE.

I follow NGE just fine, in fact its on of my favs. The problem I have with FLCL is the fact they have too many different anime styles running amuck in one eposide. Please stick to one, good god makes my head hurt! LOL

I think that show had a lot of potential...in some parts the animation was awesome...in others it was like a 3 year old was making it. Very confusing, but I was highly entertained. I wish there was more to it...more episodes.

Some parts they made fun of themselves for switching styles...they even went to a comic-book format for like 2 minutes in at least one of the episodes.

I guess you've never seen the entire series... once you watch all of it the pieces come together

There's only like 6 episodes, right? They need to play them again, all in a row or something. I missed at least one I think, but I saw the last one. I liked it...very different.

Now that I have wactched FLCL several times in order, it has become one of my favorites. It is whimiscal and reminds me some what of Excel Saga.

Even though FLCL is not exactly a serous anime they pack a lot of plot in a few eposides, so by the time you go get another beer you will be lost. If you missed a eposoed then it would be real tough to peice together what is going on.

Anime that makes you run screaming from your TV are my favs. Already a fan of Excel Saga, so FLCL is right up my alley when I have the chance to check it out.

The catch to FLCL is to understand that its story is not what is said and shown on the surface. Instead, FLCL is a huge winding allegory to growing up and a statement on how children are growing up unnaturally fast without knowing why.

Naota is the only character in the series who is who he is. The other characters are all instead facets of life and consciousness. What they represent generally depends on personal interpretation, but in the end the story comes full circle showing one other ideal...

...that even after struggle, hardship, and loss, a child can still be a child.

That's FLCL, oftentimes one of anime's biggest mindf*cks.
