79 el camino for sale
UPDATE: 1/11/04
I have a 79 el camino for sale. I live in Quitman, GA.(17 miles west of Valdosta, GA, down highway 84) I have a pic, but now it has different rims, and the drivers side fender has damage, because back in 2000, some lady decided to cream her lincoln into my passenger side door, at an angle). I got a different door off another similar year elky, and slapped it on the passenger side. The passenger fender was replaced recently off a 78 malibu. The driver side fender crumbled a bit when the front bumper caught it. All it needs is 1 front fender. I put some ARP bolts on the intake manifold, for a few reasons: - 12 pt bolts so I could get a socket on them. - To have the correct length so no oil sippage. The car runs great, and it moves good for a 305. Heres the pic: http://members.surfsouth.com/~frei/my_car.jpg Now for some more details: -I have 80's style camaro rims, with the center caps sitting in the bed, cause some of them have cracked from age. -The engine is a 86 305 ho out of a monte carlo ss, with about 110-120k miles on it now. Before the engine was put it, I had a melling oil pump and timing chain/gear put on. The valve stems were replaced bout 10k miles ago. -The interior needs work, as the drivers seat needs a redo. The passenger side seat is in tip top. I have a crappy 1 speaker stereo system. -The dash cluster light doesn't work, because theirs some short, that pops the fuse, when I turn the headlights on. The headlights work fine. Probably some short somewheres in the dash but really wasn't a priority for me to fix. Gas guage doesn't work. Ive used a pen and pad ever since I bought the car over 6 years ago. The car gets 14-16 mpg and you can count on 14. Ive always kept a couple gallon gas can in the back. Ive ran out of fuel 2 or 3 times since Ive had the car(last time was bout 3-4 years ago), and that was before I knew what the exact fillup at the pump was(16.6 gallons). -I have 235/60sr15's lemans tires with about 20k on them. -I have true dual exhaust, with stock manifolds on the engine, and turbo mufflers. I have a h-pipe burned in between the left and right pipe. Sounds pretty good. -The 350 th tranny has about 40k on the rebuild, and shifts flawlessly. -I dont have the kickdown hooked up, because I need an adaptor, for the edelbrock 600 cfm carb. The carb is about 2 years old. I capped the egr valve hole, for a few reasons, one of which is that the carb wouldn't go on, with the egr on. The other was because it had no use not being hooked up and all. -The drive belts are fine. - I need to go down to the parts house to get a new battery and slap it in. - It still has the original ac delco ac unit, and it does work. Although, it needs to be converted to r134, because r12 is running thru the system, so I dont use it much, only when I need to. The kick up for the idle was taken off, because it doesn't line up with the edelbrock carb, and of course, is an adaptor I didn't buy. -I have an HEI distributor with about 50-60k miles on it. -New plug accel 8mm wires. Could use some new ac delco plugs, but are fine at the moment. -I had the u-joints replaced(they were originals), and replaced the axle fluid back in 99. -The car could use some front springs. The springs have spacers in them(probably previous owner). Surprisingly, the car rides great. The ride quality is very good. -When I bought the car, it had a tired 267 v8, and tired 350 th tranny. Best I can calculate, the engine either had over 200k or 300k on it as well as the transmission. - An off the frame restore would be good for this car. -Basically, Im probably gonna purchase a s-10 blazer, or if I can find one, a s-10 ss. Possibly a fullsize ck1500 as well. Im asking $1500. If your interested, email me at '[email protected]' From there, Ill give yah my number. I work a lot, but am usually home around 4pm. Im off on tuesdays, and sundays. I would consider trades of the mentioned trucks(s-10 blazer, s-10 ss, ck1500). Robert
