could it be the starter?

hey everyone.. my civic starts weird sometimes. its hard to start with a warm engine. like i would go 10 miles from home to downtown, turn off the car for a quick stop at 7 eleven and it would have a hard time starting from there. there are like no problems when the motor is cool or off for like a few hours. i turn the key and the starter wouldn't start. then i rest a while and turn the key again and the start would turn the engine but it wouldnt start. the check engine light comes on comes on after this. then after a few more tries it starts, the check engine light dissappears. what could be wrong? all wires are attached. ground and everything. my dad cleaned the starter a while ago and it was fine. do i need a new starter?

it could be a number of things next time it throws the check engine light leave the key on and check the computer. if you dont know where its at its located under the carpet in the passengers side where your feet would be. so pull the carpet up and your computer will be right there. there will be a red light flashing on and off. now pay attention to the flashes there two types of flashes, one is a quick flashe(on and off) and the other is a little longer flash(red light stays on a little longer then goes off) the long flashes count as ten and quick ones count as one.example if there is a long flash and then three quick onesthat will be code 13. if its two long flashes back to back and 5 quicks ones after thats a code 25. i dont know if im making sense this is my first post in months letstry it this way

1= long flash(10)
2=short flash(1)

112222222- that would be code 27
12222- that would be code14
11- code 20
112-code 21

ok im not goodwithexplaing but maybe that will help u read the code. do that then come back and post what code it throws. make sure its throwing the same code twice back to back cause it could be throwing more than one code. let us know then we can go from there.

forget all that, its your Main Relay, behind the hood pop thingy, about 40bux from the dealer, notorious for going bad, and for giving the problems you described.

it threw out a code 16... check the fuel injection system...

i found this online:
Code 16 - Fuel Injector

Code 16 is probably the Main Relay, however it could still mean a bad Injector, Resistor Box tho.

Most failures occur, when the weather starts heating-up for the summer...

If the car refuses to start, but "turns over" on a hot day, try opening the doors/windows, and let the interior cool down. "Then try starting again". May not work all the time, but worth a try anyway. Also, would help in troubleshooting the prob, if it does start. Another place to look is the ECT sensor, refer to the above

thanks for the help

Starting Problem

This Morning I Tried To Start My Car And The Starter Would Not Turn. I Know The Starter Is Not The Problem Because It Is New. Sometimes The Starter Turns And Makes A Loud Screaching Noise. That Noise Is Exacly The Same To When A Car Is Turned On And You Turn The Key To Turn The Car On. What Can Be The Problem To This?
