Jeep broke down the other day. It seemed just like it ran out of gas. Started once then just chugged about a quarter of a mile to the gas station. Towed it home and checked for spark and that is good. Changed the fuel filter and still nothing. I am thinking the fuel pump is bad. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It is a 1994 Grand Cherokee. Thanks Kile

I've replaced my '94 pump and it is a common failuer. I suggest you buy a fuel pressure gauge for about $35 from an auto store and check the pressure on the frame rail over the motor. That is the only definative test.
The pump is in the tank and a real PITA to replace. The part is about $400 and labor is usually 4 hrs or so. |
