1995 740i engine won´t start

Hi - maybe someone knows a bit more about cars than I do

Earlier this week I dropped of my car with a paint shop to get the hood painted since the previous owner had that done and it was not done properly enough.

Anyways, trying to pick up my car today, I found out that they needed to push the car in and out the shop because they could not start the engine. At first I thought they might not have used the remote control and the alarm system disconnected the stream of fuel to the engine, but when I got there, I figured that that was not the problem. Turning the key does not even get the radio or any other electrical supply started (e.g. interior lights, seat memory, etc.) and it makes a strange clicking sound under the hood when turning the key. Some of the control lights are on, but nothing that would give an indication of what´s wrong.

They (the shop) also forgot to put the release pin through the hood, so they were not able to open the hood to find out if something is wrong with the battery. Now I am stuck without a car until they somehow get it back running, but they already said they don´t know anything about BMW´s.


Now my question and sorry for the long posting, but what might be the causes for nothing happening ? Could it be the battery ? Everything worked fine before I dropped it off and, of course, they say it did not work since earlier in the week.

Dont feel bad if you dont know that much about cars but the body men should. It sounds like you have a dead battery i.e. the key was left in the on position. Have them recharge the battery and see if it works.

it sounds like a low battery, if it seems that its the body mens fault, u could in sum way sue them, but other wise, if everything else starts, but the car wont start, it could be the starter, or if u hear the car start but wont turn on, it could be the ignition coil.
