civic idle problems
Can anyone give me any ideas on why my 97 civic will not idle correctly. Idle spped jummps from 800 - 1500 over and over again. THere are no codes adn appear to be no vacum leaks. the car has no modifications

double check all vacuum hoses - listen for the HISS while gently flexing each hose. MAP sensor or EACV problem possibly

Might try re-setting the idle, by pulling the EACV/IAC connector. It will throw a code tho, just re-set the ECU after your finished.
Make sure there is no trapped air in the cooling system. It will cause the ECT sensor to send bogus signals to the ECU. Just some thoughts...

Are you sure its not the heating or cooling system kicking in, or turning you wheel(revs for the power steering) or anything like that.

Re: civic idle problems
if it is only doing it a little then the car just needs to warm up if not then you may want to see how much fule is being pumped it could be fule line is cloged or some thing like the injectors
