I just scored....

I just scored a monitor. NEC Multisync 4FG 15in. Its a couple of years old, but I got it used for $50 with a 90 day warentee. Its in immaculate condition and is unbelieveably bright for its age. Has digital controls and everything.

Now I wont have to stare at the 12" display on the laptop anymore.

Me very very happy.

Anyone else have one of these monitors? What do you think of it?

Cant say I'm using one of those. Been on 19" for awhile, but I'd like to shoot up to a 21" soon. Hard to use development tools on less then a 17"

You should do what I do, Rich, and use both the laptop screen and the external monitor. Plug the monitor into the laptop and place it beside the laptop screen. Go into Display properties, Settings, and enable the second monitor. Position it where you have it on your desk, then click the check box at the bottom that says something like "Extend my desktop onto this monitor." You now have 2048X768 resolution, meaning your desktop is now 2 screens wide. I always keep winamp and AIM windows on the left screen, and maximized IE on the laptop screen.

I got a 20-something inch monitor for free. A friend of mine was throwing it away.

It 'acts up' once in a while, but hey... It's FREE!

Thx for the tip Mark. I just set it up that way, and its pretty cool. I think ill keep it this way, Winamp, AIM,MSN, and My Computer Window are all open on the 15" and the laptop screen just for browsing, or for when im doing work.

I love how the mouse flows from one screen to the other

:hehe: I think im starting to get the idea of how to get ppl to read the threads I start.

Its all about the topic

I knew if I put "I just scored..." ppl would look at it and say "H.Man, Scored?....I gotta check this out."

From now on, I will try to use as many misleading topics as possible

My new setup as of tonight...the external has my icons, Windows taskbar (with start button and program lists), and will show my winamp and AIM windows, while the laptop screen is full-screen Internet Explorer (try hitting F11 if you have IE).
