Talking 1993 Mustang GT 5.0L w/ Twin Turbo?

Hey

What do you think about this mod--this a good model to do twin turbo on?

How fast will it do the quarter? How many HP will I top out with etc.

Any recommended twin turbo kit brand?

BTW I seen some 'stang with a different hood. It had what looked like a scoop that went toward driver, but was the whole length of the hood not just a portion of it...what is this type called? they look tight.

Thanks

I cant help you on the twin turbo idea, haha but what a cool idea! That Stang you saw with the unique scoop that went the length of the hood was quite possibly a Rouche (sp?). I saw one coming home from work one day and almost crapped my pants it was so hot. Did you notice side pipes (exhaust) and was the engine LOUD? Im willing to bet you saw a Rouche..

They're called roush mustangs, and he's thinking of a cowl hood.

For somebody that doesn't seem to know much about cars, I wouldn't recommend buying, or making a twin turbo kit, way too hard for a beginner to install, and since you're probably 16-20 (just guessing by the way you write) first time you hit boost in first or second you would probably put the car in a ditch or around a tree. Stock 5.0 shortblock with ARP's + girdle is good to around 480-500 RWHP, anything more than that and the block has a nasty tendency to split right along the lifter valley, you need to go to an R302, A4, or dart for 500+ RWHP.

willy, gain a little knowledge before you toss up ramblings. do you even know what a turbo system does, how it runs. Do you even know how a car runs. If I was you and I am GLAD Im not, I would not touch a car, leave it to a mechanic or someone who know what they are doing.

Jesus why flame when it was just a question barrchr. Toss up ramblings? I've seen it done before. Yes I know what a turbo system does, don't know it intricately, but then again cars aren't my day and night. What is your problem mr production manager. Someone wants to do something and you get all angry because your not the only one who can do it, you want exclusivity or something? pffft.

Personal attacks are lame on people you don't even know.

Get a life.

do not twin turbo a 93. regardless of what anyone else tells you a 93 is not forced induction ready, they changed the pistons in 93 from forged aluminum to some money saving piece of junk set of pistons. if you get OEM pistons from an 87-92 mustang that would be fine, i also recommend better piston rings, connecting rods and crankshaft if youre gonna be pushing more than 350 hp @ the wheels.

So...

We started with a twin turbo, now i have a question, The last of the V8 Aston Martin Vantage was a special edition which came with two superchargers and the V8 had 550 HP, so, Can i Twin Supercharge a 1992 5.0, not asking how or would anyone recomend anything, just asking is it possible or not w/o big modds to the 302.

#2 So much for "The Camaro is out...", I found one which is tuned to handle the heat and its 1995 for 2.5K, its not my final decision though.
#3 Camaro is out, someone bought it before me.
#4 Found a 300ZX 1986 in good condition for 2400, will take it for a check up on thursday.

Ignore anything this guy EVER tries to say in any other thread, please. He just showed his lack of knowledge right here. Guess what, the high silicone TRW's used up till 92's will not take power power than the hyper pistons. The hypers do not take to detonation at all, but as long as you know what you're doing and give it a fat tune you're fine. People have gone just as fast on the hypers as they have on the forged pistons, it's just that idiots take an S-trim, throw renegade pulleys on it to take it to 18 psi, run that on 91 octane with an FMU, roast their pistons, and then say their hypers are crap. And the last part of your post completely solidified the fact that you have probably never built a fast mustang before. New crank and rods for over 350 at the wheels? Give me a bloody break, the block itself is by far the weak link in a late model 5.0, they kick the bucket at around 500 RWHP. The chances of you throwing a rod or snapping the crank are minimal compared to the chances of breaking your block. In fact, the only times i've seen throw rods or snapped cranks in stock block 5.0's is when people spun stock shortblocks to 6500+ RPM's and caused a rod to let go, or ran a blower with cogs on the stock crank for a long time on the street, and eventually broke the snout of the crank off.

Re: 1993 Mustang GT 5.0L w/ Twin Turbo?

Its to bad I don't know anything about the 5.0
All I can do is build a 289 to out run a 5.0/302
302/5.0 is a fair block, Just not for me.
Now my 67 fastback pushes with a 460 short-block and low 10's in the 1/4 until the rear passegers tire and rim took off without the damn car into the stands.

whoa whoa, easy boosted - you guys are probably both right - we know you know your stuff - and what this other guy said is pretty much a direct quote out of the 5.0 performance handbook. has he created problems in other forums?

my gripe is with ss - come on son! read all of the thread before you post and please do a little research before hand.

i havent been back to this forum in a long time. seems ive been talked trash about... thats always fun. im not takin a shot at you boosted its fine. think what you want but, sitting in my garage is a 91 mustang gt with a twin turbo kit mainly home made. i rebuilt two garet T-03's from thunderbird turbocoupes. 202,000 kms on the motor pushing 467 horsepower at the crank. now, i had this equipment on a 93 with stock pistons and they did NOT hold up which is why i switched to 91 in the first place. this is all unprovable of course and i understand that you believe youre right so youre going to assume im lying anyhow but my friend has a 90 lx 5.0 coupe, he has a roots supercharger pushing god knows how much boost and he has oem pistons! they hold up no problem and i asked him about this and he agreed that staying away from the hyper pistons was a good idea because he too had problems in his previous 94 5.0 with a similar setup. by the way if you guys are interested i ran a 12.5 on street tires... im quite proud . now last but not least all of this happened on stock blocks mainly because im 16 and cant afford a brand new high performance one like the obviously loaded boosted who claims that ive never built a powerful mustang before.
