It says it has close up mode. It should be fine.

Macro mode is another name for close up mode.

Good enough, go for it.

With a 10-60cm Macro mode it should be fine for what you'll need. But just remember, when you take photos up close, not to get the camera closer than 10cm to the object

The only thing that bugs me is the "White balance automatic" feature. If you can't adjust the white balance manually you'll have some dark crappy pictures indoors. You can use the flash, but we all know how "unnatural" that looks and the colors never look right. Using the flash removes the depth and makes a subject look 2-dimensional.

My camera does manual/auto but if I leave it on auto my pictures of models indoors come out dark. I then need to edit it in Photoshop just to get it bright enough to post. Once I discovered the manual white-balance adjustment (decided to read the manual 3 years later) my indoor night-time shots became amazingly clear. I can adjust for overcast, tungsten light, flourescent light, direct sun, and auto.

If the price is right, I'd say go for it.

Here's a resource I've been using...
http://www.imaging-resource.com/
Goto "Dave's picks", then "macro"
Simply tons of information on digital cams.

That's not close up, that's just the zoom function i.e. how far away it can take pictures. Optical zoom is the basic zoom function which uses the camera's lens. The digital zoom is a pixel zooming feature, the same thing as taking a picture at the highest resolution then using photoshop to crop out the edges to give you a "bigger" view of the center, except the camera does it for you. Digital zoom requires a steady hand (tripod) and is hardly useful for anything unless you're desperate to get every last bit of zoom out of it.

Plus digital zoom makes the image look pixelated. As soon as I got my camera I turned the digital zoom off and I've never looked back.

I recently was looking for a digi-cam and was looking at the kodak ones as they seemed good value for money (I figure the less I spend on toys like this the more I have for necesseities i.e models, glue, paints and that sort of stuff!!) i visited many shops selling these cams and in each shop (curry, comet, pc world, jessops and even tokarski's) they all said don't bother with the kodaks cause they are crap!! I ended up buying a Konica KD 310z and it has great ratings in all the magazines and Which Digital camera gives it a Highly recommended 4and a half stars!!

If you click on 'My Homepage' below the MAzda RX-7 was photo'd using this cam!
