car won't start.

My car has been sitting for a few months, and now it will not start. I checked the cap and rotor on the dizzy and there was some corrosioin in there so I cleaned it up a bit. Now the car almost will start but not completly. Any ideas? Thanks.

Was it running before you let it sit for a few months?

Damn... I've had a bunch of similar problems as peeps here lately. Ok, after I got back from my most recent 'trip', and my car was up on jackstands for almost 3 months, I had the same problem.

I tried changing out the main relay & that didn't help. I tried adding some new gas & that didn't help. I was at a loss. Finally I talked to a friend of mine & he said to hold the throttle to the floor when I was trying to start the car. It took a couple times, but it worked & the car has run awesome ever since.... I know it doesn't sound *right*, but like I said; it worked!

Hopefully that's all you'll need to do.

Good Luck,
CZ-R

It goes against everything I've ever heard about fuel injection (namely, don't pump the pedal), but here it is.
After my car stopped running for a couple of weeks and I replaced the distributor, it wouldn't start.
Finally, I pumped it. I might have held the pedal to the floor...and it started up. It would spin around, and almost catch and run on its own, but I had to pump it and maybe hold it to get to actually run.
I think it just needs to work air out of the fuel line.
Anyway, try pumping or holding the pedal.
Flunky
PS-I know that pumping it is something people get used to when they are starting a car with a carburetor. I was told NEVER to pump the pedal on a fuel-injected motor...
