Small list of things to max your D16. Of course there's less and more, but if your looking for maxing it. Here's my opinion.

1. Fuel pump. Walboro GSS 342 Kit #400-846.
2. High flow fuel filter. AEM looks descent.
3. High flow fuel regulator. AEM looks descent
4. Fuel management system/Ignition. AEM/Hondata
5. 8MM spark plug wires. I like the nology's.
6. NGK's +1 or +2 colder plugs.
7. High flow fuel Rail. Again I kinda like the AEM.
8. Turbo Kit. Revhard/Greddy/Fmax/Eldelbrock.
9. Intercooler if the kit doesn't come with one.
10. Clutch would be a good idea at this point maybe a LSD while your in there.
11. Test pipe 3in for cat replacement.
12. Cat back exhaust. Find the least restrictive. I'm going with the Apex N1 but I hear the Thermal is better because it's 3" piping.

Now to max it out! You have to get internals done.

1. Resleeve the block. I got a quote of $500 bucks just to get it done without the parts and just the short block on the table. The Dayton sleeves run about 600 or more I think.
2. New Rods. Again expensive parts but labor on this one isn't much. Crowers look good at about 800 bucks a set.
3. Pistons. JE/SRP low compression pistons. Run Wiesco pistons on my bike.
4. Blockguard. Make sure to get it bored/honed after it gets put in and not before.
5. Camshaft. Skunk makes a turbo one I believe
6. New high performance valve springs/retainers.
7. Get a 3 angle valve job while your there.
8. Cam gear. AEM looks ok to me on this.
9. Maybe a small shot of nitros on top if you feel lucky. Wouldn't recommend this but hell I'd do it.
10. Run out and get it tuned from a professional on a dyno.

I'm sure there's more but these are just off the top of my head. Good luck on the project. It's alot of fun but can get spendy, especially if you blow that resleeved motor from running lean. Take your time!

Let it rip!

Here's my little project car.

Everything here is pointless to get unless you run boost or nitrous. The colder plugs should be purchased for nitrous only... All the thousands of dollars spent on pistons, rods, block guard, yada yada would do nothing but add reliability, a bit higher redline, and the ability to run more boost if you get a turbo. With that money you could get a swap and have that horsepower already. I have a buddy who spent over $8k for a turbo, intercooler, computer, and dozens of other little parts to get it running at stoic (not rich nor lean) and dynotuned to near perfection and he only has about 220-230 horsepower. Not a bad number for a sohc, but look at the money he's spent. Oh yeah and he still hasn't even bought internals so there's another arm/leg to run a few more psi.

If you can afford it, by all means man, but the (more reliable) swap idea does sound a bit tempting now doesn't it? ...unless you're planning on topping out around 160hp with a camshaft, i/h/e, clutch, stronger axels, yada yada...

Only a few more PSI with Internals? How about 10 more? ~ 100 hp 220 to 320? Not bad for a D. To each his own I guess. I always find myself spending alot no matter which way I go on modifing my car. That Alpine would be really nice and those speakers, amps, lcd screens and what not. It's a project that's what makes it fun.

Sorry bro I wasn't too sure about the numbers... That would be pretty fast because his 205whp/204wtq is already damn quick. In my opinion running 19psi on a sohc doesn't sound as reliable as building up a dohc n/a, but like said to each his own.

I bet for 8K you could swap the R motor in and then with the extra 3 grand throw in some cams/springs i/h/e... and have 200whp.. wont have that torque but... it will be allmotor and no waiting around for boost to kick in...

8k could do good in a d.....have the block prepped for 20psi...sleeved rods...pistons...bearings...oil pump and water pump. cost about 1500 right there. turbo kit around 3k...turbo upgrade around 600.... clutch.....lsd....better axels....nitrous for lagg at the track...but then again lagg is your friend...helps on traction. all n all you could do lots with 8k into your d. anythings possible with a d or any motor for that matter. this is my recent dyno graphs of a d15b2 on a 55 shot of zex with about 1grand invested into the motor. it required lots of machine work to the head but wasnt to bad as i have acess to a machine shop. 220whp in a 2200lb car isnt bad at all on the track but beware...in stock form the d engines arent the greatest...when compared to a b
