A better question would be how much boost can you run on stock internals for whatever engine you're thinking about.

But there are different size rotary's you know...
And I do not know how much boost each could handle; someone else would have to answer that question.

And hell yes it's possible to get an rx-7 to run 10's or lower!
(I read your post in the street racing forums)

Do you have plans?

ok, so what you want is actually a 9.xx second car as a daily driver then?

That means you'll also want desent milage, which the rotory can NOT do. It's a great design for power, but it does suck gas.

Whatever you end up doing, you'll be using turbos for sure. The turbos won't acually do much at low RPM, which is good for typical use since it won't affect your gas milage all the time. In fact, in some cases a turbo can help milage very slightly for city driving conditions. But when you really want to punch it, the boost will be there almost immediatly and you'll be seeing far more power, in which case your milage goes down the toilet, but who cares if it's just for a little bit right?

If you want to run 9.xx seconds though, you'll need both a potent engine and a light car.

I would say get an 89 or older acura integra and give it an engine and driveline swap, something from a newer integra with VTEC. Then boost the hell out of it and add a nitrous kit. You'd need to get all forged internals though. Also, you'd need every fluid in the engine to have some kind of cooling system (not hard at all).

I say 89 or older cause those years were really light - 2337 lbs!

Now being a front wheel drive car and all, it will be harder to get a good launch from it, but you should be able to work around that.

Remember that drivers skill is more inportant than the car you drive.
Good luck though!
