Tein Springs
They are a pretty wll known product in Japan, and I was wondering if anyone has tried the Tein Springs out. Says about a 1.5 drop. Cheap too, like 160

screw springs, i'm going whole coil-overs when i get them. Tein will probably be the way i'll go, though.

coilovers are very expensive. also do not get the $75 coilovers on ebay, they are crap and you have to weld them to the struts in order to have them work.
go with springs and struts unless you have $1200 laying around.

i agree, the spring/shock combo is the best bet if you're on a budget. i have tanabe gf210 springs and tokico hp shocks. they don't go on til next week but totalled they came to less than $500 brand new on ebay.

i wonder how the ZEAL or the Kei Office CO sets are.
Kei Office is made by the drift king, but i dun think they are adjustable. and the ZEALS are nice and look beefy they are 6 way adjustable too.

Zeal's are supposedly one of the best. i haven't heard too too much about them yet though. my top choices are Tein FLEX or JIC FLT-A2's. i'm willing to spend the money for them to make sure everything performs to the top standards, since i plan on actually drifting my car in competitions and what-not.

These fucking suck! I got them and isntalled them recently. I'm now 100% set on how badly these suck after seeing a black base kouki on the way home from work in a parking lot. The spot next to it was empty, so i was like "damn, this is fuckin perfect time for comparison". So I did a u-turn and drove back and pulled in and parked next to it. I got out and they were both the same height almost. My car was less than half an inch lower. Unless you look REALLY clsoe (and I mean REALLY close), you cant tell the difference. My buddy Peter, as well as my gf, and a few other people, cant even tell its lowered. Peter told me (alot of local nico members know him, hes got s14 zenki with sr20 swap, using tanabe springs, which are awesome) he couldnt tell the difference either. When driving the car, it doesnt feel lowered at all. The springs arent even stiff. I installed KYB AGX shocks with them and my car doesnt handle any better. I like the shocks but theyre no good with such shitty springs. The springs are also nowhere near as stiff as sportlines, not even close. My buddy John has sportlines on his car, which is black kouki just like mine. I've ridden in his car and it feels nice and stiff, and super lower. My car feels completely stock unless I put the shocks on a super stiff setting, and then the car just bounces. I'm seriously displeased with these springs, theyre no better than stock. My buddy Jeff helped me insall them, when I was inside getting a drink, he was pulling apart the front stock assembly on the passenger side. He told me (After htey were installed and i was like "wtf? it feels no different!) he put them both next to eachother and there was barely any difference, and when he stepped on them with his weight, they both compressed abnout the same. Which is really sad since the Teins are fresh and my stock springs have 65k of abuse on them. I'm convinced these springs fucking suck to the extreme. I'll go by the parking lot that I saw the kouki in when I borrow my friends camera, since it was an apartment complex lot. If hte car is there, I'm gettign pics of my car next to it. To prove to everyone how badly these springs suck ass. If the car isnt there, I'll go by Enjuku and get pics of my car next to Kens. His car is an SE, but since its riding on stock susp, it should be a good comparison still. I hate to see how bad they are after they break in and get even softer. I made this post to warn everyone, since I dont want anyone else going through all the trouble i did, just to get majorly dissapointed. As of current, I spent 540 on the springs and kybs before tax (got it from Enjuku, who rocks majorly) and feel like a made the biggest mistake ever. Damn me for wanting to save 30 bucks by not going with the sportlines. DAMN IT! |

yea that sucks dude, dont get used suspension parts.
tokico blues rock, ive had mine on 6 mo with no problems. they are the most popular for 240 suspension upgrades, everyone has them just make sure you get good springs, that's where the handling comes into play. struts are only good if you have springs to back them up. good springs: eibach sportlines intrax tein tanabe just get a good name

so whats the cheapest set of springs and shocks that are still really good? And how much difference would you notice on the street with sportlines and Tokicos (or some other spring/shock setup) versus Tein Flex (or HE) coilovers?
