I just took my car in this morning for a updated NY state inspection. When I went to pick it up, they said it wouldn't pass inspection because they couldn't get my car to run pass 50mph to test the emissions. They said they tried it several times. I am confused because I just drove my car and it goes past 50mph...I can get it pass 80...but I don't want a ticket. Does anyone have any advice I can tell the garage I went to...maybe they were doing something wrong???
Thanks. Paul |

Could you start by telling us what kind and year vehical you have? Maybe your floor mat was bunched up under the gas pedal? |

1998 Toyota Rav4 only 58,000 miles
I talked to the Mechanic today and he said that the car will go above 55, it just won't accelerate quickly enough to test the emmissions. Seems kind of strange seeing I have no problem accelerating on the road. He tried the test 8 times and it still doesn't work. My car is still sitting at the garage until he has time to look at it. I would like to have some reason I can tell him because he said in all the cars he's ever inspected he never had this problem.
