teg vs. 5.0

Got my friend to race is mustang 5.0. Now i knew those cars are POS, but damn, his was slow as hell (auto). Started from 0 and I killed him off the line, after a wonderful 1st-2nd shift, I checked out my side window and i didn't see him. Then I shifted to 3rd and he was in my rear view mirror (1 car length back). Then a damn volvo pulled out in front of me and I had to brake. That made my week

With those mods, i dont see it happening. Unless High-Beams and clear corners cut a second from your ets.

Not saying you're lying...but it is kind of hard to believe with the mods you have. What year was the Mustang. The only 5.0's I remember was the 94-96 body style which come with 240hp and 280ft lbs of torque.

http://modelreports.cars.com/modelda...W&aff=national

I really don't see a 120hp make up with the mods that you currently have. I won't even mention the torque

The 5.0 Mustangs ran from '79 - '93. In '94 they got a new body style but only kept the 5.0 for the '95 year.

It was a 1990 LX.

edit: also, with my mods, fair to say i have at least 150-155hp. The difference between the cars is about 90hp. But i weigh a shitload less than him, i'm a manual, and i know how to launch.

What year & model is your Integra?

Unless your pushing a Type-R or GSR I really can't see you running on a 5.0 unless he just couldn't drive or something. I agree, you will have a better launch cause of the weight difference. But he should have eventually walked you down. That's where that 70hp Difference comes in. Like I said before, I won't mention the torque.

According to your previous post you said you're pushing around 155hp while a 1990 5.0 has around 225hp So, there's a 70hp gap. I'd say you're running around 125-130ft lbs of torque while the Stang has around 200ft lbs of torque (not sure) Now, remind you, I'm taking into consideration the condition of the car (fair) and condition of the engine (fair). So I would say it is possible but not likely if the stang is in good condition.

The problem was you said you beat a 5.0 mustang with a LIGHTLY modded integra. In the future, you must be a little more specific when posting these types of threads....or get ready to be flamed

Anyway...Good Run

I'm sure a 5.0 has more than 200LBS of tq, demestics always (maybe with one or two exceptions) have more tq than HP, specialy the V8's, I hate to burst your bubble but I walked a auto 5.0 a couple months ago, the 5.0 looked in fair condition the engine, no idea, the guy started to loose and he turned away. Guess he has issues about being walked on by a 1990 Nissan Maxima I honestly think he tried cause I heard his engine the entire time till he turned away, he was on my ass but he never passed me.

With all do respect, 5.0 mustangs are in no way a "pos" and are in no way "slow as hell." What have you been smoking my friend? A 5.0 mustang (auto or stick) has 225hp and 300lbs of torque. Either your friend's stang was running like crap or he let you win. Race me then tell me an auto 5.0 stang is slow.

Well I haven't gotton to the track since I got my new trans, but last summer my best run was a 14.26@97 with just gears, shift kit, and exhaust. Not bad for a stock motor heavy convertible.

Well, I think a 1990 Maxima is more believable (190hp, 190ft lbs torq) when beating a 1990 Mustang than a 4cyl Integra

Yeah I'm going to Lebanon Valley in NY on 9/10. I'm getting a good set of drag radials so I'm hoping for high 13's. I'm gonna start building the motor over winter, hoping for low to mid 12's N/A next summer.
