question about injector cleaning before swap

I am getting ready to do the mpfi swap and I have the injectors out.
I read somewhere that it is a good idea to clean them with injector cleaner before hand.
Do I just submerge the whole injector in it and let it sit?
I took all the gaskets off and evrything but what about the plug for the wires?
