Did the dealer screw up with wrong size tires?
Hi 626 owners,
I recently had my 626 LX front tires replaced at the dealership and they put P195/60-R15s on the front wheels. I have similar tires in the rear with some tread wear but not real bad. After I got the tires replaced, first tiem I tried to break while turning right on a wet road, the car did a 360 degree turn and halted only after the rear tire got banged against the curb. This resulted in a bent tire and wheel. My car is sitting at the dealership now, as they have to look to see what else got damaged inside. I can drive the car fine, except for the bad tire noise. Anyways, I took it Sears before taking it to the dealership and the Sears guy was all upset that the delaership put the wrong tires on my 626. He says that the sled could have been caused because the tires are smaller than the recommended P205/60-R15s. Delaer says this is crock and I should not have had any problems. I am wondering if any of you had a similar issue or have been running your 626s with P195s without any problems. Thanks, Narayana |

i have a98 and wear 205-60-15 on aloys. i would check your manual. but it seems that you actuly had more traction on the front than the back.. there was probably some sand or something on the road that made you loose grip. been there, done that..
![]() you should have oe replacements, dont let them bs you around.. note: just becouse the tire is same size, does not mean it will be the same tire.. i replaced the original mitchelins with some cheap crap and the car rides much softer.. but also rolls more, i dont like it.. |

Yeah, you need to be careful when it comes to the tires. When I purchased my 1997 Mazda 626 (in 1999) the tires that were on them were 185/70/14.
But when I replaced them last year (too many burnouts ) Sears said my proper tire size is 185/65/14. The tires that were on my car were supposedly cheaper than the original tires. Oh well.....So from now on, I order my tires from www.tirerack.com
