Jetta A/C clicking sound??? HELP!
I recently signed paperwork to purchase a 2001 Jetta with 28,000 miles on it. We went to pick up the car and realized when the air is on it makes a clicking noise. Upon a technician checking it out, he said that the noise is normal and that all VW's A/C systems make the clicking sound. Can anyone tell me if this is correct or are they trying to pawn a "lemon" off on me??? HELP!!!

I'm not sure if this is "normal" depending on the loudness of the clicking....But it could be your fan that pushes air into the car. if it's the compressor itself, it's either a bearing or a lose fanbelt....But who knows. Just Turn the A/C on and change from low to High ,and if the noise increases, or changes then it's the blower fan, the compresser sound will only change with the RPM's of the engine.

does it do it none stop or ever couple of seconds?
if it does it every few seconds it might need a charge. is it blowing cold air it should get really cold if you have it on high. if its not that cold it probably does need a charge. |
