I read peoples' threads as a matter of interest and to learn from other's questions/mistakes. I do get sick of seeing people dump on "newbies" because they have asked a question that may have been asked before. Modelling is a learning game people, so let them learn!! I for one learn from their questions and the different answers that result. There is no such thing as a simple modelling FAQ...but there may be many different answers to a simple question ( you only have to read the threads to see that). I for one will never stop being a newbie

Me too, I really think there is no really stupid questions that deals with modeling, no matter how simple it is. At some points I feel sorry for some of the new comers and how they are treated, making them want to leave the forum. If you don't know an answer, or want a different one, just ask. But there shouldn't be any negative attitude here!

Well, in my opinion, it's a matter of respect. If one is new, that person should at least have the respect to read the FAQ. If the question isn't answered, or something isn't clear - fair enough, ask away. I don't mind that much, but I do mind it when more experienced members leave the forum because of the unnecessary newbie questions/attitude. What good is a question if there's no one to answer it?

I agree with you Ales...it's about respect. The FAQ's are there for good reason and newbies should read them. The problem is, that alone is not enough. I have made over 40 model cars of all genres and dont consider myself to be a "newbie" in the game, but i still have occassional problems with the basics of painting for example (which is a recurring newbie question)...i find a lot of answers to my problems by reading answers given to a newbie question on similar problems...not simply by reading the FAQs (great as they are). If there was only one answer to a particular question then we'd all be a lot happier, and a lot less confused...but that would make modelling boring!!

that's pretty much true, plus that there are many ways to do a particular job on a model car, there is not one path to follow, each model, each modeler is different, so a faq is good for the general lines, but not for teh more in depth questions.

but still ... those questions are not bothering me at all, it's just those many useless threads circuling around here, cluttering the bandwith, space and time of the members...
