given alot of money and a really big hammer, you can do anything. but realisticly all you can do is SOHC to a DOHC

sohc to dohc swaps are definetly the most common. there has been someone who put another dohc engine in the trunk for the back wheels. some police racing association put a v8 in a wagon. any engine swap other than sohc to dohc is going to have to be done all custom. mounts, computer, tranny ect ect...

Build Up

people build up the DOHC motors, i have seen some pretty cool stuff done to get more power like shaveing the head, and all sorts of grate stuff, so i would just build up a motor instead of trying to swap a more powerfull motor or just swap in a dohc and build it up.

careful with shaving the head... any more than .014 or .016 (with .02 on the block) and your timing will be thrown off. .016 is usually a safe number, but i wouldnt go any more over that.

there are better ways of raising compression, aka pistons/valves.

ok, some one slap me up side the head. i was having an arguement with a guy in my auto class today. he said a GM quad 2.4 liter engine or something along those lines not only is commonly seen in s-models, many SCs had them out of the factory, and they ran 8s in the 1/4 mile. have i lost it?

the guy in your class is either fuggin with you or hes retarded.

many gm cars from those years had that horrible but punchy motor and he probably figured saturn was the same... and i cant think of any car that runs 8's stock in the quarter mile. first gen sc2's with sticks are known to pull 15.5's stock tho.
