CRX trivia questions

I've been working on a friend's 5-speed 91 CRX. I've replaced the radiator and fixed the alternator bearing but I have a few questions.

a) The Yellow engine/fan panel light. Does that merely indicate the fan's come on, or some something more sinister?

b) The car sometimes surges at idle -- 800 up to 2500 and back to 800. This while it's warm. Cause?

c) I think I need to tighten the hood release cable -- common problem?

d) Is there supposed to be a front dome light in that plastic piece around the rear view mirror? It looks like one but...

a) Sounds like you're refering to the check engine light, that's never a good thing. Check your ecu to see if it's throwing codes (passenger side, pull up the carpet under the dash)

b) Your EACV (Electronic Air Control Valve) maybe dying

c) No worries there, just tighten it.

d) No.

I guess it's the Check Engine indicator. It went off when I shut off the car and restarted. Is there a write-up on the codes and reading same?
