83 camaro tranny question

i have an 83 camaro with a 305 4 bbl with an auto tranny. today when i got back from the bank i went to put my car in park the car just rolled back slowly, i tried to slam the the shifter into park but nothing happens, its as if its stuck in between park and nuetral. a while back it did the same thing but made a loud clicking noise so i took it out of the park gear and put it in nuetral and back into park and it was fine. it has done that clicking nosie before but not very often and it would click into park. is thier a cable that can be adjusted? my parking brake needs to be adjusted also. i also have another problem, when i was driving about a month ago my car started to sputter(the car would lose power gain power over and over for a little bit) but once i let off the gas and slowly got back on it, it would be fine. i then came to a stop light gave it gas and it did it again but i kept on the gas and it died but i was able to start it up fairly easily. but on my way home after that it started to sputter again at full throttle and died(i was going up hill) but this time it wouldnt start back up for anthing. i parked it on the side of the road and walked home waited a while came back(about 30-45 mins.) and it started right up. i have been told that it could be the ignition, fuel pump or the computer itself. i took it to a guy i knew and he hooked it up to a scanner but he didnt tell me anything i felt was use full, he told me that my carb baseplate had a leak so i replaced it yesterday. i was driving today and it started to sputter again when i was at 1/2-3/4 throttle but i let off the throttle for a couple of seconds and eased back on it and it was fine. i know i lay on the gas too much. i cant afford to take it to that guy again and he doesnt work on sundays so any help would be great. by the way my name is john and i love goin fast.

The problem with your transmission is probably the cable on the shifter. I don't know what trans you have but my 700R-4 did the same thing. One of the ears that hooks into a slot on the trans was tweaked. I had to replace the cable and it has worked fine for the several years since.

As far as the engine problem goes, it sounds like the fuel pump is going south. Another possibility is the catalytic converter is plugging up. Your exhaust will glow red sometimes if it is really bad. A check with a vacuum gauge can tell you as well.

Your coil might be heating up and causing it to sputter but it really sounds like a carb problem you might look at rebuilding your carb or replacing it.
