18" rims on a Civic. Cause problems?
I wasn considering getting some 18 inch rims for my 2001 Civic coupe. Someone I work with said that it was likely the weight of the rims would be too much for the 4 bolts and they would snap.

Since I am no expert on this matter I thought I might turn to a forum full of people who might know more than I do. Any advice would be very helpul.

Tell your friend at work hes full of shit....cuz he doesnt know what hes talking about....The weight of the car is what puts pressure on the studs not the wheels therefor hes an idiot.......You can put 18's a a civic and it will not snap the studs.....only thing is you might need to roll your fenders in...

How do I know if I am going to need to roll my fenders in and would it be better to go with 17's?

The biggest I would go on my civic would be 17's but its really for your preferance...

with S1 Type-R I would go no larger than 17's on a civic. Larger wheels can decrease wheel bearing life.

Well there is one downside to heavier rims. And that it will wear out your suspension and braking components quicker since it puts more stress on those areas.

And you're slower because of more rotating weight, and you have worse ride quality because you have less sidewall, less traction because you have less sidewall, etc.
