Howell Crate engines

Does anybody have one of these? I was wondering how good they are, especially the 2.7L. It seems like it would be a torque monster. Feedback would be great. Thanks.

in CAR & Driver Howell automotive had a 2700 motor which put up a 15.5 in the 1/4 and a 7th place finish overall also was putting out over 360hp they say they had bug issues but the time seems a bit low.

Howel had a crap clutch. They used a stage 1 because they couldnt get a stage 4 in time or something like that.

As DOHcNEON said, Howell had a bum clutch. I gotta wonder why they sent a car that wasn't sorted out, though...

At any rate, I don't believe for a second that Howell's motor was making the 347hp (or so), when Scott Mohler's /purpose-built/ drag car is making around 310hp at the wheels. On alcohol.

It just doesn't add up.
