Yes you can add any of the two but I would suggest a Turbo!
Greddy makes a street legal kit but if you wanna boost more I would suggest a Rev-Hard or F-Max....

Should I use a Supercharger or Turbo in a D16Y8?

If so...which one?

To me, turbo is the only way to go. As someone already mentioned, greddy makes a carb exempt kit. I recommend that. But if your going for big power, it won't do it for you. Supercharging to me is a waste, you don't seeing any of the pro guys using them, why, with a turbo, all you have to do is keep turning up the boost as long as your turbo can make power at that boost level.

Well, there are some good advantages with a supercharge, but nobody makes a good kit for hondas yet. An undersized eaton blower and no intercooler (aka JRSC) isn't a way to make power. If somebody used a 1.8 liter twin-screw blower with a good intercooler it would have the potential to make some nasty power (>500WHP) and not lag as bad as some of the bigger turbos do, even though garrett is coming out with new technology that's greatly reducing spool time.

Very true, you just don't see any good kits out for our cars yet. So that's why I say for now, turbo is the best choice.

Superchargers are becoming obsolete with more and more advances in Turbos. The only place for a supercharger now adays is a roots on an old carby v8.

Why does everyone with a Honda always wanna do fi. What happened to N/A, Hondas make great N/A platforms but everbodys so fi gung ho its like its a fad now.

The N/A class is still strong, but there aren't that many high hp FI honda/acura's out there. So it really doesn't matter. I know a couple all motor street cars that can clean some fi cars up. Gordon Mack, Lee Roberts, those two are very fast. But turbo 4 is a very competitive class now. Many low 10sec street cars out there running around.

But saying going FI on a honda is a fad, it does seem like many want turbo just to say they are turbo or hear a bov. I took it seriously and so do the few that I know that are turbo. No fad here, just big power and good times

Im talking about kids on the street. Everybody has an N/A car but with mainly just small bolt ons because they all say, "Im gonna get a Turbo with NOS." yet never do. Turbos are the new performance fad, but less than 1% of people who say they are gonna get em actually do.

I gotta disagree with you there. Fastest N/A civic is into the high high 9's and it's totally stripped and gutted race car. A N/A civic going low 12's at 110-114 is pretty damn fast for a N/A civic. It's easy to find a 460 truck motor in a junkyard, throw some new pistons in it, refurbish the rods, throw on a set of heads intake carb cam, put it in front of a C6 or turbo 400 in a fox body mustang and go 130+ MPH in the quarter N/A. I do think that hondas make a great platform for a FI setup, they're light, engine is easier than hell to work on, tranny is strong enough, parts are cheaper than a V8 because you have 1 head, half the pistons and rods, don't need a stronger crank, etc. Nowadays that people are leaning how to tune hondas properly it's not uncommon to see them daily driven making 350+ WHP on pump gas, and i've seen and run into several in the 500+ range, and even a few street driven civics making over 600 to the wheels.

Edit: Well, i'm not going to say that hondas make a BAD N/A platform because there is a fair bit of potential to make N/A power out of them compared to a lot of other cars, but I wouldn't say they have great potential.

WTF are you talking about boosted? I dont give a damn about race cars. Im talking about street cars. Everyone Ive ever met with a Honda always says their gonna Turbo it, nobody ever says they are gonna go natural. Im saying that for the street car kids, they always want a turbo. Not reading posts fully is a fad now too. Read the post above your last one boosted.

I'm talking about your post you quoted. Most people don't go N/A on a honda because you can make more power cheaper by going turbo.

I doesnt matter that N/A makes less power, its that nobody does N/A.
A good N/A Honda can be pushed much further on a road track than a high power turbo Honda. People jump to make so much horsepower that they upset the car and overpower it and so the car can never use its full horsepower. You have to pay too much attention at keeping the car stable that you lose focus on just going as fast as possible. Horsepower is nothing if you cant control it.
