I ordered this last night!
That would be nice Schlud, except my rack has square tubes!
This JackGuard even will cover the 60" Hi-Lift.

Best Price?
Those stupid brackets are like $50 aren't they?
I too have the JACKGUARD. Anyone figure out a way to mount this thing to the roof (lockable)? I wonder if I pulled the bracket apart and then run the jackgaurd mounting bolts throught there instead of the bracket and OEM bolts... Hmmm |

I'll fab some brackets for the JackMate when it gets here, if neccesary. I just think with all the rain out here the Hi-lift will rust quick. CD I am gonna use my ax/shovel carrier for my ax and shovel!

I have to agree that the High-Lift will become a mess if left outside all the time. I much prefer to have it inside protected so that I know that it is on working order if I need it. I think that moving it outside when you go 4x4ing is a good idea since it will be easy to access (well easier than in the back under all the other stuff).
If you really like the look I would just buy a cheap one and put it up there and never use it a recovery (poser ). I do a bunch of rock climbing and gear is your best friend, treat it well and it will not let you down. |

Need the room in the back
No way the 60in is gonna fit inside the truck unless you drop the seat, don't like that too much. The damn think looks like a rifle
and it is quite in the way in the back due to it's awkward side.I too am concerned about rust, but I think it'll be OK if you mount it outside on the rack... INSIDE the JackGaurd for protection from the elements. Just gotta figure out how. RRD if you come with a solution, please share. I have thinking about this for a while. |

Not that this is pretty but the jack should be able to slip between the seat in the middle. This is how I have my shovel mounted (with the long handle going up between the seats.
If you wanted (way to much work ) you could make an arm rest for the back and then use the space below for the jack. You could cut a small square in the seats so the the stuff would fit thru easy. Kinda like the ski bags for cars (things that come from the truck) except the arm rest would be made of hard materail and have a proper finish on top.Yea I know I have to much time on my hands to think this stuff up. |

Just put it in the garage when you're not offroading. I'm with Rhombus, it seems rather "poseurish" to leave it on all the time.
Although I haven't checked lately to see if I can change a rear tire on the road with my scissor jack anymore. Hmm.....have to check that. |

Your kidding right? What jack would you rather use if you have to change a flat? Hi-Lift or that awesome piece of factory equipment Nissan calls a jack?
My Hi-lift is on ALL THE TIME. With occasional squirts of wd-40 as a rust preventative, it is alway's in working order. Besides the jack is WAY too loud to have inside the cabin. And for those of you with the Kargomaster Hi-Lift mount, try a zip-tie around the handle and jack body to eliminate some of the jack noise.

My hi-lift is always outside the truck. Poseurish or not, it saves me from having to remember to pull it from the garage. Sometimes I hit the trails without planning on a run, so there really is no other way for me.
Also, my stock jack seized a LONG time ago and my hi-lift is my only method of changing a tire. |

I guess since you really never 4x4 alone (or should try not to) there will probally be another one kicking around if you had problems. I also guess if it is on the roof then it will not get coated in as much salt from the roads. That would be my biggest concern. I'm not sure how much surface rust weakens steel but would hate to find out. |
