1989 dodge caravan starter
i am having trouble with my 1989 dodge caravan. when i turn the key, it just clicks. sometimes it took one or two trys to get the engine running. sometimes about 50. but now its not starting at all. i dont want to go drop a bunch of money on a new starter if its something else thats cheaper. please help.

Get a test light. Connect one end to a good ground and the tester end touch the starter trigger wire, small single wire. While you are doing that, get someone to attempt to crank the vehicle and watch the test light. If it lights, replace the starter. I know it is the starter, but confirm it with the above test. Its the solinoid, its shot. Its part of a new starter assembly. The good part is you can at least get core value for your old starter.

Check and clean your battery cables and starter connections first. ***Make sure to disconnect the battery when inspecting starter connections***.

all the above sounds good,but one other thing if you
have no juice at all you might check the second wire coming off of the positive batt.cable for a blown inline fuse or corrosion(but that is if there is no power at all) |
