computer trouble with diamante

my car stalls every time i stop if the car is cold or really hot. it also has a problem with shifting gears and pulls back when i'm taking off and sometimes right in the middle of driving.

i got this checked out the other day at the dealership and they said we need to replace the plug wires, the powertrain control module and the idle air control motor. these are mostly to do with the computer of the car.

do diamantes have a history of having trouble with the computer tearing up after 100,000 miles? and is this a problem still with the newer versions bc i was thinking of trading my car in for a 98 or above.

also if anyone has any info on where i could find these parts at their cheapest, i would greatly appreciate it.

What do you mean by really hot? These cars shouldn't ever get over halfway on the temp gauge..

Anyways, yeah, the idle air control motor probably needs some workin, and it's always a good deal to change your plugs and wires every so often. As far as the computers go, I don't think many people have had problems with theirs.. I'd mess with the other things first anways, since they're chump change, and the computer costs a buttload.

I too own a Diamante and after just hitting 100,000 miles my computer too just quit.

The dealer charged us 2300 six months ago and didnt fix it, now he wants another $1500 dollars for a new computer. Amazing!!

yeah, i just traded my diamante in about a month ago for a contour. doesn't quite measure up to the luxury of a diamante but hey, it runs and i know if anything breaks on it, it won't cost me 1,000 dollars to fix it. until i'm out of college and making the big bucks, i'm fine with a second rate car.
anyway, hope you have better luck with yours.
