Thumbs up stupid punks....

gotta love the highway punks... i was cruising down 495 the other day in the Chevelle when some kids in an integra cruised up behind me... i was in the car with my sister on our way to Chelmsford. as the integra pulled up beside me, i got a good look at it. the kids inside were talking and looking over at me, so i gunned it. the red integra took off. normally, i don't ever race with my sister in the car, but i just had to show this punk. i nailed the loud pedal, as the high winding small block nailed our asses to the back glass. the integra had a decent head start (about 4 car lengths @ 75mph) because it took me a few seconds to actually figure out that he wanted to race. before i knew it, my speedo was showing 155 on the gauge, and he was behind me by a good 15 car lengths. i pulled over for the last 1/2 mile before my exit into the slow lane at 60mph. he caught up, and his buddy kept looking over at the chevelle, and then talking back to his buddy. i gave 'em a head nod and a laugh as i pulled off the highway....

gotta love it when you absolutely crucify another car. the acceleration from 75 to 155 absolutely blew my mind. i could feel that the small block was starting to open up and breathe better from some tuning i did, and was pulling like a friggin freight train. (ahhhhh.... the lovely payoff for putting up with 8 miles to the friggin' gallon) just an hour prior, i had adjusted the accelerator pump and mixture on the carb for longer stroke and leaner mixture, and hadn't had a chance to field test it yet. i think the test results were pretty positive. hahaha.

What worries me, is that statement makes it sound as if you have never done that before. That to me was a very risky first run at that speed, on a public highway, with your sister in your car?

nonono, i've had the chevelle for 3 years now, and i've done the 75-150 run many many times. i was just very impressed with the improvement in pickup after i had adjusted the accelerator pump etc... earlier that day. bye the way, the highway was nearly vacant. i'd never ever race if there was much traffic on the road, that is simply asking for trouble.
