Ted Williams not enjoying his after-life

Not sure how many of you are baseball fans but this is just appauling to me. Ted Williams may not have been the best father, but he certainly didn't deserve this.

John Henry Williams is still the worst son ever, and he is increasing his lead. The whole story regarding the freezing of Ted Williams was bad enough to begin with, but we were under the impression that he was at least in one piece. We were under the impression that it was as bad as it was going to get. We were wrong.

In the beginning there was a morbid curiosity with what John Henry Williams was planning to do with his father’s remains. The bitter and public battle between him and his half-sister was more embarrassing to the memory of Ted Williams than anything.

Now it’s much worse than any of us thought.

Sports Illustrated writer Tom Verducci reports that Williams’ head is in a can on shelf next to the tube that holds his body. Yep, his head has been lopped off and is sitting in a crock-pot. The night the body arrived at the Alcor freezing facility, surgery was performed and the head was severed. People allegedly were snapping pictures of the procedure and no documents of non-disclosure in relation to the procedure exist. I’m guessing that those photos will eventually turn up somewhere, like on EBay.

But wait, it gets worse.

Apparently, holes have been drilled into the head to prevent ‘cracking’ but it hasn’t helped. It has cracked frequently due to fluctuating freezing temperatures and changes in storage locations. According to Verducci, the head has been moved 3 times which has resulted in 10 different cracks. It is suspended in liquid nitrogen in a steel container which looks a lot like a lobster bin.

Great, his dome is on a shelf cracked, in a lobster bin and his body is floating in formaldehyde.

This is horrible.

Is there a guy other than John Henry who would’ve wanted this fate for Ted Williams? Is there a guy other than John Henry who would’ve done this to his own father?

Verducci posed the question whether Ted Williams would’ve ever wanted this. Ted never signed the consent form. John Henry Williams was meeting with Alcor in the year leading up to Ted’s death, but even still, Ted never signed any consent form.

Verducci originally thought that this was all done out of monetary gain, but now he’s not sure. He questions where money could be made in this situation.

But the salient point to Tom was that for something so important as a person’s last wishes, how can anyone explain the lack of documentation shared with a lawyer or other family members. There is only a greasy napkin that allegedly was found in John Henry’s trunk. Nice place to keep legal documents. There aren’t any ‘legal documents’ that were created while Ted was lucid, to corroborate the napkin, imagine that. That’s only somewhat suspect. Ted Williams' daughter also said that whenever ‘Ted’ Williams signed a legal document, he signed his full name, ‘Theodore S. Williams’, not ‘Ted Williams’ as is on the napkin.

The worst part of all this is that the remains of Ted Williams belong to the Alcor Corp., where nothing can be done unless the courts step in. John Henry Williams can’t even get the body back now.

This story went from ‘somewhat amusing’ to ‘downright sinister’. It’s completely shameful what has happened to the memory of one of the best hitters in the history of baseball. He should have been cremated and his ashes spread about the Florida Keys. Being decapitated and hanging upside down in a pickle jar couldn’t have been part of the plan. This is terrible. The whole thing is absolutely deplorable.

That is just so Micheal Jackson, other than that, I'm speechless.

Ted must be looking down and just shaking his head in the afterlife. How stupid
