Not sure. I've always associated Levins and Truenos with the Corolla, so that sounds as good as anything.

Toyota never used the name "Levin" for any Corollas in america. So just look at the Corolla forum i guess

As far as I know there is no such car outside of Japan. The LEVIN has always been a generously equipped COROLLA with the full name Corolla LEVIN. TRUE levins do not have the same engine as a regular corolla and ALWAYS used a G-type head.

Te27 corolla Levin Circa 1972 - comes with 2T-G from the TA22 GT celica. nice car!!!!
Te30 series LEVIN circa 197?
Te50 series LEVIN circa 197?
Te70 series LEVIN circa 1980
Ae86 corolla LEVIN circa 1983 - Introduction of the 4A-GE
Ae92 corolla LEVIN circa 1987 - Introduction of the 4a-GZE
Ae101 corolla LEVIN circa 199? - Introduction of the SILVERTOP 20v 4a-ge
Ae111 corolla LEVIN circa 1995 - last TRUE levin. introduction of BLACKTOP 20v 4a-ge

Up until 1987 the levin WAS AVAILABLE in the states under several names including COROLLA GTS and corolla SR-5. In some countries they still sell corolla levins but they're just a regular corolla with mag wheels and a spoiler.

Just in case you DIDN'T know the Levin was usually sold with a slightly differently styled twin-car, the Sprinter TRUENO. The corolla and sprinter are basically the same car and the trueno is the best equipped and fastest one.

"Levin" is actually the name of a racetrack in new zealand so I'm guessing the name is commemorative of an important victory there. but that's just a guess.

hope that helps

Red face actually...

~~~~~>The 1987 U.S.models (that are not SR5 or GTS) are close to the same body stucture as the levinl; the levin actually is the lesser version of the trueno. Thus why it has its conservative appearance. the trueno/sprinter has sporty flip style headlights as the levin, has recessed lights (non- fliping up style) but thats about as far as that goes engine wise its a litte less "sporty" that the ae86(truenobody style) as opposed by ae85 (levin body style) if it really comes down to it if you want ot know whether the car is a levin check the VIN number if its has "AE85" within the VIN number then its a levin
