i was wondering does anyone make cams for the KA24 with the single cam. How much power can be gained? and can they be used w/ a turbo?

That is for the Ka24DE and sr20de which are both DOHC he was asking about the ka24E which is a SOHC.

need for single cam SOHC engine, those cars are cheaper, more money left for turbo.

i fail to understand why ur gonna save so much money for the turbo setup and skimp on everything else. why not get a DOHC and be insured that it will most likely run better with the turbo than a SOHC. trying to save 400 bux on a cam or something will only lead to more problems with the engine not being able to take ur Heavenly Turbo setup that ur planning.

i dont see the problem with wanting to save money, im getting the engine rebuilt no matter what amount of cams are in it. While the engines open why not get what ever i can get upgraded to handle the power of my "heavenly" turbo setup. Were i live, i look in the paper everyday, 91+ 240sx's cost quite abit more then the prior ones. I can do alot with that money. forged piston would be nice. I could use the money for the engine rebuild, what i do is ultimitly my choice. Also see i asked can a performance cam work with a turbo. If it does work good with a turbo wouldnt it be cheaper to upgrade the single cam engine then the daul. Trust me i always think ahead and i always expect the worse. I wont skimp on anything if its gonna end up me needing a new engine or it sapping performance in some way. If the cam dosent work well with the turbo there is nothing preventing me from getting a DOHC 240sx because i wont be buying any performance cams.

oh yeh its not like im planning to run 18psi or anything 8 to 9 is more in my range. unlike some people with an unlimited money supply i have to plan the best way to safetly and reliably get to my goal. Im not going to jump into anything right away, i want to learn everything i can before I do anything. I dont have a single dollar to waste because of the current position im in, excuse me if i wanted to save a few dollars that i could of used somewere else.

see that 8 or 9 psi thing changes everything. i dunno if cams have an effect on boosting and strength of the engine and the amount of induction it can whitstand, but i was thinking u were gonna scrimp and still go on a high horsepower application by turning up the boost dial..

my bad. if ur content with the SOHC, by all means, go ahead and do it , but even though i have no cash, i would still go for the DE

yeh im still learning, originialy i was gonna go with the DE because its newer. But if i was going to do cam work i would of done it on the SOHC engine because of the cost. But im having trouble finding info on cams and how they affect the turbo so for now im gonna stay away from that direction. For now its going to remain at ka24de and rebuilding it possibly with stronger internals if i find i will need it at that power level. im not by a means im not looking to build a beast, just a car thats better all around then some high dollar cars that i cannot afford. so far this is it

- real nissan turbo starter kit w/ boost controller and turbo timer
- Front mount intercooler (maybe custom, still researching)
- Apexi Daul N1 exhaust
- Cross drilled rotors
- Intake
- LSD
- Will keep at 6psi until i do feul management. bigger injectors ect.
- MAYBE body styling, depends on how much i spend on the performance

Re: cams...

i actually heard from someone that a sohc turbo is faster than a dohc turbo because there's only one cam to work then the two, and it's more efficient.

my

also all the parts for a sohc turbo are cheaper. take a look at www.realnissan.com 's fast starlet

yep. i wish i would have done that. first off i didnt know anything about cars when i started modding mine, and second of all i dumped about 3500 into performance. of course about 700 of that is for the exhaust... even though i could have gotten a mandrel bent for 59.95

good luck buddy

Mandrel bent exhaust is over-rated...

Yay Mazda!

I can get into the 12's for less than 1000 including the cost of the car...
