Question Power more power?

Hey can someone please give me a few pointers on what to do with my 1993 Del Sol S.

I've put in an AEM Cold Air Intake and its performed beautifully. I can feel the power raise.
anyway, Thats the only thing i've done to my car so far and want to do more.
i've been looking at DC Headers and different Exahust. What is the best bet to go and where would i find it?

i have a guy that i work with who is calling my car "Hella Girly" and is making fun of it. I want to race him and kick his ass. He has a really nice Eclipse (turbo, exhaust, intake, etc.) so i have a little bit to go but do you think i have a chance?

I think you got a chance. Drop a B18B in it and turbo the sucker. I bet you'd walk all over him then.

Seriously though, if he's running a turbo Eclipse, your Del Sol S won't hold up much to it with 105hp stock without a turbo/supercharger of it's own or some serious engine building. You could always opt for an engine swap and run N/A or F/I, but if you stick with the engine in there now it's gonna take some work and engine building to get that engine to hold its own against a turbo'd car.

On the bright side, when his car is falling apart (Eclipse's have a poor reliability rating) your Honda will still be running strong.

ya i had the 106 stock horses but i added a cold air intake and i think i have atleast 115 horses now and thats just the intake. what would happen if i dropped some new headers and added a new exhaust into it?
i might not be able to beat the eclipse guy but i'd come close to not sucking haha

do you know anywhere that i can get a new engine, exhaust, and/or headers. and what headers would be the best for my car?

An intake, header, and full cat-back exhaust system might give you an additional 10 or 15 more horsepower (maybe 20 or 25, but that's pushing it) over your stock engine, but you're still far off from holding your own against a turbo'd car. That could push you close in the range of 120hp.

Is your car a manual or automatic transmission? If it's manual, you could consider a B16A swap. It's the VTEC Del Sol engine and will fit in your car without too much modification. I think they can be had for about $2,000 and come with 160hp stock. You'll need some other stuff too to go with the swap to make it work. As for a header, I would suggest a 4-1 header over a 4-2-1 header. I'm not as familiar with where to get them, so maybe others have some suggestions? My roommate's got all the hookups for where to get parts so I don't usually have to look myself.

You still get hella better gas mileage than him.

I beat a turbo eclipse in my stock VTEC model at the track a few months ago. An S model doesn't stand a chance.. the only reason I beat him with my b16 was that he missed second and I saw him miss second, so I know he wasn't bluffing. We both pulled hard at the beginning, then I could see him just stop, cause his car was in neutral. To give you an idea, after doing a pretty good run, I was going about 85 mph at the end of the quarter. After missing second, when he did cross the line after me, he was going over 90 mph. Without a pretty good drag setup, you're not gonna be able to do it. So get a good drag setup and kick his ass. But keep it on the track.

thanks for all the great suggestions.
ill look into swapping foir a B16 engine. i just have to raise the money first. cashiering at a drug store will take a little while.

though i must share my story.
Last night i kicked a Generation 1 CRX's ass in the street
i know that it isn't the highest honor but it put up a great fight
and it was my first accually street race with the Sol so it was happy times.

Congrats on the CRX kill. They're respectable cars and can be pretty fast when tuned well. They're also close to your horsepower range:

She's got a point there. You ought to keep the racing off the street. It'll keep you from getting tickets and it's safer for you and the drivers / pedestrians on the street.

I'm taking mine to the drag strip soon to see how it'll run stock before I do anything to it. I removed my resonator today and I've got a CAI in the mail. That's it for now though. I'm taking my time with the car.

Re: Power more power?

i'd like to make it a point to inform everyone that i am mostly against dragging on the street. Yes i have done it once but you must understand the circumstances. It was late at night, highly lit street, and almost no cars. Plus i made sure to look out where i was going.

I do understand the dangers in street racing at do go down a person checklist in my head before attempting anything stupid when not on a race track or strip.

Plus the guy in the CRX really needed his butt burned

so just fyi to everyone i am a safe driver and will not be one of those jackasses every day going out to a busy street and getting people drag with.
