Transmission Prob
does anyone have this similar problem or know of what might be going on?
I have a 2003 Elantra Gt manual, the problem is 3 parts. 1. When in first the car seems to hop sort of not exactly jerky but noticible. 2. Some times going into second with clutch all the way down, it grinds and I have to take it out. 3. Wont go into reverse, have to play with it for a while before it will go in. Again clutch all the way in, brake depressed all the way. I know how to drive stick had a few cars that were stick before, as well other people have drove my car have experienced the same problem I brought the car in to the dealership they say nothing is wrong. |

first of all check your fluid level, that will effect shifting too. I remember seeing a bulletin on transmissions, I'll check and get back later. I know they definitely have issues with the auto. meanwhile also check engine mounts if broken, they could cause the jerk you feel also..... they probably know what the problem is if there is a bulletin, but if they are lazy, then there is nothing wrong......... I'll be back again

The clutch assembly had to be replaced since it completly broke while driving and I couldnt shift. I had to have it towed in. Then one week later when they said it was all fixed, when I drove it off the lot it grinded into first. So I brought it back they had me sit there for an hour before saying you are going to have to bring it back next week. So one week later I brought it back, by this time all the grinding killed first, all the previous grinding killed second. So they had to replace both first and second gear, and the syncros for each

I just had to replace the clutch set on my 2003 Hyundai Elantra (20 months /41k miles).
I have had seven M/T vehicles. I put 40k - 100k+ miles on these cars. The only 2 I have had clutch problems with were both Hyundai. None of the other makes did I have problems on. I drove these cars in GA, SC, NC, & VA (nice & hilly!). The Elantra is driven in FL, with only a few trips northward. I think it is safe to say the clutch problems were not due to the driver. The other Hyundai was a 92-94 (?) Excel. We made 25k miles on the 1st clutch set. At 52k miles the new clutch started having problems so we traded it in on a new car. All I can say is that this is most definitely the last Hyundai I will ever buy! |
