Could be several things... I have no idea what an immobilizer is...
Anyways, check to make sure that your rotor hasn't fallen off inside the distributor cap. It could also be the ignition coil... Pull it out and test the resistance of the primary and secondary windings. Could be your ignitor unit in the dizzy. Similar thing happened to me a while back, and it turned out to be my alarm system. It completely fried my ignition switch, and even after I replaced the ignition switch, the car wouldn't start. Turned out that the alarm brain was all tweaked out and wouldn't let the car start... Took me 3 months to figure that out. Hope that helps somehow.

The same thing happened to me. I checked all the basics first and it turned out to be the igniter.

Yup. Igniter and coil are the most likely culprits. You can usually tell when the screw comes out of the rotor, because your car goes Blut! and then you're on the roadside.
When I had these troubles, I replaced the igniter and the coil...and then had to replace the entire distributor. Flunky |

hey ci5ic, an immobilizer is part of my alarm, it cuts power to the starter motor when the alarm is on... so you guys reckon the coil or ignitor? coz i have just done a auto to manual transmission swap would that be anything to do with it? thanks

Either that or, maybe switching from Auto to manual you didn't wire up the sensor that senses that the clutch isn't pushed in? I dunno... just a thought.
