Making switch for twin radiator fans?

Over the summer, my cutlass ('94, 3100) has been running quite hot... about 210-220. I've put my water in the coolant, but to no avail. I came up with the idea of rigging a power source to both of the radiator fans, and have a switch in the interior, so I could turn them on free at will. How would I go about doing this? Any suggestions?

The cooling fans are controlled by the PCM and are turned on at a predetermined tempature.
The primary cooling fan turns on at 225 degrees and the secondary fan will turn on at 232 degrees. They should cycle....turn off when the temp cools off to about 215.

So if I'm reading your post right, your vehicle is operating within designed specifications.

I'm talking about when I idle at stop lights and such. If I'm stopped for more than abotu 20 seconds, the temperature shoots up to about 23-240. I just dont' want my car ot overheat. Is there anyway I can test the fans' motors to make sure they work???

Re: Making switch for twin radiator fans?

One way to test is when the temperatures get that hot, get out of the car and look to see if the fans are working. Another way is you can use an insulated wire and stick it in the hot side on the fan and stick the other end on the hot side of the battery. IT should engage if it's working correctly.
