Hmmm...not sure if it's anything like the 5th generation assembly, but I had to basically rip mine out. They're spring loaded too...so maybe that's the last bolt you're talking about. If you are changing them anyway, don't worry about them breaking. But if you want to save them, buy a manual that covers it.

Did you take off the bumper? Or are you trying to get them out from the top??? On my car (6G) front bump had to be taken off to put in my new set.

Yes, you need to remove the bumper in order for the headlights to come off. My '91, if I remember it correctly, consist of six screws: two on each front fender well and two inside the engine compartment, holding the bumper in place. Don’t forget to disconnect the bumper lights and fog lights (if equipped). Make certain you have something soft to catch and rest your bumper on once removed to avoid scratches.
In addition to the two screws on top, there are two more screws on the bottom of each headlight assembly that you need to get to for complete removal.
Also, you need to remove the corner lights as well, because it shares the same bracket as the headlights. Good Luck!

I had to rip mine off because they were stuck in. I removed the bumper cover, along with fenders, and they still would not come out. Not like I was trying to break them, but the last bolt was a spring as well, and wouldn't come out. Using a little force popped it out, along with breaking the part with the spring. The new ones worked fine, so I didn't care to lose the stock ones. This was only on one side, the other side came out a lot better.

Just buy a decent manual for the car, it should show where all the screws and bolts are located. If it's hidden, it will tell you how to get to it.
