NB clacking "somewhere?" under hood, help !!!

[font=arial][color=coral] O.K. ,here goes ... I got a 99 NB 1.8T w/ 5 speed tranny BONE-STOCK ! My problem is : yesterday I was goofing off & revved my engine to tease my son & I actually HEARD my Turbo Whizzing!!! Sounded great , then the trouble began ! Went for a cruise to look @ cars (fav. passtime) & now there is a clanking , like my fan is hitting something, but can't see anything. Only does it when the A/C is on & come to a stop , then try to "take-off" . If I turn off A/C it does not do it. Now the Turbo actually can be REALLY heard (WHIZZING normal)& car has ALOT more Pep. So far , without removing any panels, we can not see a thing wrong !!! Also, my check engine light is on... but did not come on because of this ( has been on since September 2002) I hit a deer @ low rate of speed , 45-50 mph... not much damage just headlight , parklight , bumpercover , hood & OEM airbox that goes into driver fender. We did not replace that section because VW said it was not pertinent to unless we drive "under-water"LOL !!! Still the light stayes on , no other engine problems except for sputtering every now & then. O.K. ` more NOW thanTHEN !!! Please help if can, TooDaLoo ~~~~
