Newbie!
Hi everybody! I was in search of a good automotive forum on the web. I'm looking for some place pretty fun and informative, and pretty active... am I in the right place?
I own a 2002 Trans Am WS6. Stock, I ran 13.3 @ 109 with a 1.9x 60 foot. Current mods include MTI high flow lid, K&N airfilter, TByrne MAF ends, SLP smooth bellows, B&M sport shifter, MBA "WS6" engraved shift knob, Corsa catback exhasut. PPC headers are on their way, and the cats are ocming off!

www.ls1.com is a good place for you to start.
I would recomend the Hooker full length tube headers. to a 3" X-pipe with a pair of twister mufflers that dump in front of the axles. Also contact Jimmy at [email protected]. He has an 01 TA and his brother has an 01 formula they were both in the top 10 fastest stock LS1's in the country. they are both in the 11's on stock motors Mike might be in the 10's now.

Thanks for the advice... I already have found an f-body home at f-body.com... I was looking for some more general car stuff this time around.
I have the M6 so there won't be a need for the torque converter. I already have PPC long tube headers on order -- and they're better than Hooker ! I should be running high 12's with the mods I have now. I'll be running it near the end of September and I'll post times after that. Thanks for the welcome.

What rubber were you running that night???

Believe it or not... that was the Stock F1's
I only ripped a 1.9 once, but 2.0's are pretty common. I will be getting BFGoodrich T/A KDW's coming next spring... then I will happily say hello to 1.8 60's ![]() With a trap speed of 109 though, I should be a lot lower than 13.3... 109 shows enough HP to hit 13.0 at least.

Yeah, I'd think so. I know of a guy with a 2000 WS6 that was trapping at those speeds when he was hitting 12.5's, so it seems like you're in pretty good shape. I just wish my local track would let me start in the groove so that I could get my times down with practice...

Goodyear F1's are the stock tires on the Trans Am WS6.
They = Very hard to race tires. BF Goodrich T/A KDW's offer superior traction to the F1's in every way. If you want to read up a bit on them, check out www.tirerack.com. I'm jealous that you have those tires, you should be able to stick 1.8 60's at least... have fun, make us proud!

I went to tire rack and actually couldn't find anything about those tires... thanks though.. it's good to know i have good tires...
i lost my WRX in a crash... My friend was driving (not letting friends drive my cars anymore after this) on the 4th of July.. He was driving because I had one(1!!!) beer, and i didn't want to risk going through one of those check things cops do... anyway, we had only 3 miles or so that he had to drive.... we were going 70 on the interstate(which is the speed limit) and some big ass animal ran out in front of us.. he swurved left, it ran where he swerved, and he swirved (couldn't figure out which spelling of swerve looked right hope i didn't lose you in that story.. it was kind of long and indirect.. |

Don't know how he lost the car either...
Surprised you couldn't find those tires, I think you will if you keep looking Congrats on the WS6... it's better than a WRX

thanks... as far as balls, this car has way more.. i just don't want to fuck it up... 60' times are better with the tires i have you said... i have never been to a track, i don't even know how to get to the closest one to me... which i am pretty sure isn't even that close... do you all think with a stock car, it is worth looking into...? i haven't been before , partially cause i don't want to lose a race, even though you are really only racing yourself... i just think i'll fuck up if the guy in the other lane goes flying by me...

M6 or A4 transmission? 60' times are far better with those tires. You will routinely cut 60' times that I would only achieve with stock F1's if i launched PERFECTLY. Tampa? I bet there is a strip nearby. Don't be embarassed... everyone starts somewhere. You race the clock, not the other lane. You gotta try it out man... being afraid to "screw up" is like not asking a chick out because you're afraid she'll say "no"...

thats funny cause i am afraid to ask a chick out now, for that very reason...... i used to be a playa in school man.... i have no contact with girls anymore, so i don't know which ones like me... anyway, i have the M6... i was driving today, and one time(it rained today) the tires are spinning taking off slowly from a light... this thing has so much power.. it happened to me last time i took it out in the rain too... i guess i better be careful, much more so then i had to be in the AWD wrx....

With the rain... yes, 1st gear is essentially useless in the rain. The rear end is also not nearly as stable at speed, so don't make any brash movements in the rain on the freeway. Never race anyone in the rain, you will lose, or you will crash... enjoy the power it has, but be very careful... By the way... glad to hear you have the M6 Now go ask that girl out.
