Screw the Govt
This is a idea that i have if you want to really import a JDM Car.
I myself have a 91 VW B3 Passat 2.0 with my nos kit it gives me a total of 270hp with the spray, so you can see why i REALLY want a Nissan Skyline GT-R. I came up with this idea but it's alote of work and is only theory so it might not even work, nevertheless it is still probable to do. First you will need a real US Green card so if you don't have one apply for one so you can become a U.S. Citizen. Next you rent a small space for your car to stay in, it will be there for 1 year. When you import the car list it as a prototype or experimental (you will not be able to use it on us roads yet). Now canadian regulations say that you can NOT import a car then modifie it to comply with safety rules in Canada. But you'r car is in the U.S. right now. Durring the one year of storage of your prototype car modifie everything to comply with safety standards for canada. After 1 year import the car saying that it was a experimental home built car that has all the dot regulations and so one, plus it's your car that you had in the U.S. and now you need it in Canada. This should work because look at the guy who made the 3 wheeled t-rex protoype then legalized it for on road use. Happy Modding n shit

It'll never work. They will know what it is with all the hub bub that has gone on for the past few years. Next year you will be able to bring in legally 1989 R32's anyways. So in the time you're talking about it'll be up to nearly the 1990 range. Why risk getting caught for fraud? Not to mention how do you intend on slipping it past them to start with?
Not a very bright or viable solution I am afraid.

there's too many things that the covernment can screw you on, I doubt that will work, plus, getting a non usdm car to the US isn't the easiest thing either

unfortinetley they wont let us bring them here unless they are 15 years old. but there isnt much we can do, your idea is not all that bright. if you get caught, that can hurt. just wait and bring an r32 here, its just like a few months. may be tough to find one in nice shape though

While we're on the subject of car importing.....
Why the hell is it always a Skyline people are trying to get their hands on? I mean, yeah, they're great cars. I'd particularly to own a KPC110 GT-R (Ken & Mary generation, for those who keep track. JMA Baby!) but there's so much more I'd rather import first. For instance.... Ford Cosworth RS200.  Lancia O37  Renault Alpine  TVR.... well... it's a big list of TVR's. Cerbera and Tamora are probably at the top. Cerbera  Tamora  And there's a few others in there, too. But, c'mon folks. There's the same performance to be had for near the same amount of money. Be creative! Be unique! Don't do what the movie tells you to!

I think the Cerberus (Cerbera) looked awesome in the early 90s... but that's just from a track modified point of view. the stock ones didn't look so great.
TuscanR's would be awesome! To bad it's a limited run. The Tamora is definitely unique and british. Hell I'd take any TVR... but then again this is about pushing for numbers. Do you know of any after-market parts for TVR's... this is where Nism0 comes into play. Bastards

Sorry for the newb-like question, but why won't the government let people import an r32 or other various cars?
Serriously, what do they care? Could you get every part and build it here or would that be illegal to? Just wondered if you had one in another country (Japan or where ever) and took it completely apart, shipped it over and rebuilt it as a custom... But I dunno. Sorry for the dumbass question, but WTF man? Governments piss me off sometimes...

alot of it has to do with the cars meetign the goverments dot crash ratings and emissions regulaitons....kidna stupid...but in an ever growing world of pullution and smog...and ppl who dont know how to drive...jus thte goverment trying to protect us from the non drivers we see everyday ...
