Question i have a Question

My best friend is interested in getting a street bike. I know nothing about them, so i was wondering is the Honda CBR a really bad first bike? He has his heart set on that one, but i dont know if that is a safe decision and I dont want him to get hurt on something that he cant handle because he doesnt have the experience.

sorry my question was not " intellegent " for you. I thought the point of forums was to get questions answered and to give points of view on topics

Seems intelligent enough to me. Google I can't see offering the same results for answers as experience from members would be able to offer. What sort of starter street bike would you suggest or recommend, Tangie, having experience with bikes and all.

MY point is that my thoughts and recommendations are in about 3 dozen other threads in this forum. That is what that sticky is there for; to notify newbs of the fact that this topic has been discussed about 10million times already, and that if they run a search of this forum they ought to be more than satisfied with the results.

No doubt I'm coming of as a heinous b!tch, but it's the same thing as saying "y0, duuuude. I wanna put NAWSSSSS on my Civic, y0." SSDD gets REAL old REAL fast.

A suggestion if you will Tangie, something that seems to work well on other forums, is to maybe put a sticky to an actual link of something, rather than a post choping down a prospecitve newbie to make them feel like they are dumb for asking. Remember, the only dumb question is the one that's not asked. Just some food for thought. Yeah, I gotta rehash out stuff often in the Honda section, but having links saved can come in handy to not retype what's been said in the past. Yeah there's search, but this isn't as specific as asking about what tires are good for a bike for a search topic. What's "intelligent and insightful" to one, may not be to another. Maybe a sticky thread titled "what bike is best to start with" should be made where people can add their own opinions to the thread, and it can be seen first thing by all, not like the sticky you have up now telling people to search. Again it's a suggestion though.

Apologies to stomping around in here, but just looking out for a friend is all.

I think most would agree that asking the same question, that so many have asked before is unintelligent. You don't even have to search just look through this forum and you'll find at least 1/4 of the topics are about "What the best sport bike to learn on?" It gets very old. I do agree with you on having a sticky thread about this.

No worries. I know I may not always be the happy, bouncy tangie of OT, but between being sick (physically) and sick of answering the same question over and over my tolerance was beyond thinned.

The sticky has since been altered with a link to the 6 pages of results yielded from a search of "first bike". Now all they have to do is sift through those 6 pages instead the forum.
